BUILDING QUALITY HOUSING AND SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES
Joining with Stratford upon Avon District Council has given us an opportunity to create a Local Plan for all of South Warwickshire, which will recognise and respond to the interconnected place we share. Working together saves £millions in costs to prepare this plan. It also enables local constraints to be addressed across a larger area, helping shape more sustainable communities with better local facilities and infrastructure.
The Liberal Democrats are now arguing to delay the creation of our new Local Plan, which means that the strengthening of our Green Belt would be delayed. It would also mean that more houses are built than are actually needed, due to changes in population projections from 2014. A Conservative-led Council would press on with the new Local Plan to ensure that we get the right amount of development in the most sustainable locations with the right infrastructure to support it, with land set aside for new employment, as well as hundreds of quality net zero affordable houses for local residents.
